Project information
The project group has developed a mechanical system to remove weeds from a field. This project was carried out to reduce the use of pesticides in the agricultural industry. It ensures that crops can grow and be cultivated in a natural and sustainable way.
What has been realised?
Within the project, a robotic setup has been realised that can mechanically remove weeds. This makes use of system vision (camera system) to recognise weeds. By applying image recognition, the gripper can move to the desired point to remove the weed. This is performed autonomously by the system.
What has been learned?
One of the biggest challenges was to link all the separate systems together into a functional whole. Additionally, the challenge was to think in terms of solutions to realise the system. By consciously focusing on making agriculture more sustainable, the students learned a lot from both the technology and the importance of sustainability.
